Chiral catalysts and therapeutics

(a) Introduction: Chiral diamines are found in many stereoselective catalysts and pharmaceuticals. Some of the most interesting and effective stereoselective catalysts are based on chiral diamines including Noyori’s hydrogenation catalysts and Jacobsen’s epoxidation and hydrolysis catalysts (see below). Chiral diamine based drugs include Tamiflu (Oseltamivir from Roche) and Relenza (Zanamivir from GSK) for treating bird flu and swine flu, Eloxatin for cancer and Lorabid for bacterial infection (see below). Nutlin-3 is a recently developed meso diamine based anticancer agent made from the meso mother diamine. We have developed a unified approach to making a wide variety of chiral and meso diamines. Many of our diamines are available through Sigma-Aldrich, Alfa-Aesar and Strem Chemicals. Our customers include university researchers as well as major pharmaceutical and chemical companies.
